Here’s exactly what happens, so you know what to expect:
1. You’re welcomed, not rushed
When you arrive, someone will greet you and show you to a quiet, private space. This is a safe space for you. We’ll talk first. You can share as much or as little as you want.
2. A few short forms
Yes, we’ll have you fill out some basic forms. They’re confidential and help us understand how to best support you. What we’ll ask about: your contact info, basic health history, and what kind of help you’re looking for.
What we don’t need: insurance, payment, or anyone else’s permission.
It usually takes about 10 minutes to complete the info. If you have questions on any part, we’ll walk through it with you. You set the pace for your appointment.
3. A free pregnancy test, if you need one
If you haven’t confirmed your pregnancy yet at We Care, a registered nurse will give you a pregnancy test.
It’s free to you, and it’s confidential.
4. The ultrasound
A registered nurse or an RDMS (Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer) performs the ultrasound in a private room. It’s a limited OB ultrasound, which means we check three things:
- Is the pregnancy in the uterus?
- Is there a heartbeat?
- How far along are you?
This info helps you understand your options and next steps. The whole scan usually takes about 20 minutes. You can bring someone with you if that feels better.
5. Time to talk, if you want
Afterward, we’ll go over what the nurse saw. There’s no rush. No agenda. You can ask questions, or just sit with the info. We also offer accurate information on all your pregnancy options because you deserve facts without pressure.
Again, this appointment is yours and you can talk as much or as little as you want to.
6. What happens next is up to you
We are here to talk after your ultrasound, or give you time to just go home and think. That’s ok too.
If you are interested in any of our other services, you can contact us and let us know. If you have questions you think of later, feel free to call us. Our support doesn’t have to end after your ultrasound appointment.
Appointments are available at our DeKalb & Rochelle, IL locations 5 days a week.
No-cost, confidential, no pressure. That’s our promise.
